TFO classes met US students from North Carolina

Prof. Tim Nocton from St. Andrews University and some of the students

As has been the case for several years now, TFO classes had the opportunity to get to know college students from the USA and exchange ideas with them. This year , two classes (3 BBW and 4 BBW) visited the 9 students and their professor Tim at Brunnenburg. This was where the group of students stayed  for the majority of their three-month stay. In addition , they also visited some  of Italy’s major cultural cities.
The meeting was first about getting to know each other before our pupils were able to chat with the US guests in small groups. The college students then took our classes on a tour of the Brunnenburg Agricultural Museum. The exhibition displays historical types of work and tools used in farming culture. The tour gives an insight into this largely lost culture and also gives the students the opportunity to test their English skills in everyday life.
On a separate occasion, a 4th grade (4 ABW) guided the college students through our school and showed them around, including the laboratories. Of course, one of the main topics was the differences between the American and Italian school systems. Some of the US students will go into teaching themselves in the future.
The school classes enjoyed the encounters and were happy to meet Americans in person for once. The meeting was organised  as an interdisciplinary collaboration between the subjects of History and English and was supervised by Prof. Katharina Köllemann, Ewald Kontschieder and Stephanie Regele.

Während die 4 BEL mit den Studenten eine Schulführung bis hinunter in die Labors in Englisch machten, plauderten die Schüler der 4 AEL über verschiedene Themen, z.B. die Schulsysteme bei uns und jene in den USA.
